About Jimbo


Jimbo is a Tokyo born NYC based performing artist, aerialist, choreographer, teacher, and fitness trainer.  She has a passion for music, performing, creating, and coaching health and fitness.  She is an experienced performer ranging in different styles of movement such as ballet, hip hop, martial arts, aerial arts, and acting.  As a professional, she has toured all over the world, appeared on national and international tv shows, featured in several music videos, films, interviews, and also worked extensively with the world-renowned Pilobolus Dance Theater as a primary company member-performing, teaching, coaching, and creating from 2009-2014. Since then she has continued to work with Pilobolus globally, while performing with several other productions such as the Off Broadway show "Fuerza Bruta Wayra", as well as the role of "Grace" in "Seeing You" NYC,  another Off Broadway show with creators Randy Weiner and Ryan Heffington.  Jimbo is also an original cast member and dance captain of Fuerza Bruta WA!! in Tokyo, where she coached/trained performers,  and helped with the development of the newer acts.  She continues to tour globally with Fuerza Bruta Wayra, while freelancing, and works with Ephrat Asherie Dance, and MAWU. She recently joined Virgin Voyages as a Show Captain/Performer, to launch the Brand with their first ever cruise ship, Scarlet Lady.  Stay tuned and follow her adventures on Instagram @Jb0b0 (zeros).

In 2017, Jimbo was nominated for the Bessie Awards for Outstanding Performance as part of the cast of "Riff this, Riff that" choreographed by Ephrat Asherie.  Her talent has been recognized by the National Foundation for the Advancements in the Arts, among other organizations. She was a Level 1 Awards winner and a nominee for the Presidential Scholars in 2002, a recipient of the Semans Art Fund Grant in 2004, the winner of House Dance International in the Experimental category, as well as the founder of DanceArts Fusion Exchange, and co-founder of MAWU.

Jimbo has also pursued personal training to further her knowledge on how the human body functions.  She is passionate about keeping a healthy body and mind to live a longer, healthier, fuller life.  She focuses on challenging and balancing the human body, without losing the integrity of form and range of motion.  She continually studies different methods and techniques to broaden her spectrum on how to train and heal our bodies.  Contact her for a private or group workout!
